Description

Romulo has a Degree of Law from the Complutense University of Madrid. Upon graduating he realized very quickly that he didn’t want to dedicate himself to the world of Law, but rather to that of cinema. So he went to study Directing & Script Writing at the New York Film Academy. He further complemented his script writing studies by completing an intensive screenplay structuring workshop by Robert McKee.
In 1999 he wrote and directed the much awarded ‘’El Figurante’’ (The Extra), starring Manuel Manquiña, Leonor Watling, and other famous Spanish actors from the big screen.
He worked for a fairly long period of time as assistant director on various national and international commercials, closely working with directors such as Laszlo Kadar, and it was during this period that he also began directing his first music videos.
His talent for directing, as well as for public relations got him into a prestigious circle of the music industry and very soon, he was directing music videos for internationally successful Spanish pop groups such as Marlango, El Canto del Loco, La Oreja de Van Gogh and Carlos Báute, all of his videos rating very high up in the ranking of MTV Spain. His ideas are very aesthetic, his images of great quality and he has a huge ability to work with actors and celebrities.
Romulo has directed many spots for clients such as McDonalds, Coca Cola, Sony Play Station, Sprite, Nescafé, Ann Summers, Banco Santander, Toyota, Paul Versan Watches (starring Spanish film actress Paz Vega and bullfighter Fran Ribeira), and Mapfre (the biggest insurance company in Spain) with the international tennis champion, Rafa Nadal, and his international popularity as a director spans throughout Europe, Middle East, China and the US Hispanic market.
Romulo’s work has won several awards in the time he has been directing commercials, he won a Grand Global at The New York Festival, Silver at Eurobest in London, Gold FIAP for his Red Cross “Land Mines” spot in 2003. And he was also nominated at the Cannes Young Director’s Award in 2004.
In 2010 he was contracted by Spanish TV Channel, Antena3 to direct a two part Vampire TV movie called ‘No Soy Como Tú’ (I’m Not Like You).
