Born in London, Owen avoided the obvious career path of chimney sweep / barrow boy / thief – and turned his hand instead to directing TV commercials.
He quickly gained recognition as a storyteller and earned advertising kudos as a D&AD and CA Annual honoree for the Observer’s “Smartarse” (Mother London), as a Silver D&AD winner for The Guardian’s “Preservation” (DDB London), and as a Promax Silver winner for his spots for the BBC’s Comedy Hour. He’s also wowed the iGeneration with his short film about September 11th – “eMail” – which was picked from thousands of entries as part of a series on MTV.
His most work includes spots for SKY (Cannes nominated), Toyota, Motorola, Vodafone, Axe (Clio Winner), Jeep, 118 118, Budweiser, and Carlsberg.
His short “Secret Party” film for acclaimed TV drama “Skins” has r won a BAFTA Craft Award.
Owen has lately directed hit TV show “Secret Diary of a Call Girl” for ITV (UK) and Showtime (US) and the BAFTA winning show MISFITS – Channel 4 (UK)
